Red January in partnership with Mind are promoting exercise to support your mental health.
This ride is an easy Graceful Greens - a little faster, now that you are feeling more confident, these rides will be at a steady pace average 9 –11mph. This is a reasonably flat route, on a mixture of highways (along to the Low Villages), turning down towards the Carrs, and along the byways along the Ancholme river. As there is a rougher section between the road stopping and before we get to the new mixed use path, a hybrid or mountain bike would be ideal, but you could manage on a road bike if necessary. As with all Breeze rides, no participants will be left behind.
Particularly if your bike hasn’t been ridden for a while (but even if it has), please check that your tyres are fully pumped up, your chain moves freely, your brakes work, and your bike is road-worthy. You don’t need special cycle gear, but trousers etc must not be flappy, and any laces must be tucked in.
As ever on a Breeze ride, we recommend you wear a helmet, bring the appropriate inner tubes for your bike, the tools (including a pump you know how to use which fits your bike) to replace them with, a drink for the ride, and cash for a refreshments stop (optional, at the end of the ride).
If you have any specific medical requirements which may be relevant to the ride, please ensure the ride leader is aware of them at the start of the ride – feel free to have a quiet word.
