For red rides you will need to have some fitness, however, we will take regular breaks, and not leave anyone behind. These rides are for those who ride mountain bikes, have ridden some red routes, not necessarily at Coed Y Brenin. The ride includes technical terrain that can be rolled, such as rock gardens, step downs, drop offs, loose stones/rocks, tree routes and more.
If you are unsure please get in touch.
If you've got any questions or wonder whether this is the ride for you - please do get in touch.
You need to book a place ahead of joining the ride.
WHAT TO BRING:
- A bike in good working order & suitable for riding off road (hard tail or full suspension)
You can hire mountain bikes at CyB
https://www.beicsbrenin.co.uk/shop/bike-hire/- A helmet is compulsory for this ride
- Full fingered gloves are essential. They usually have a good selection for sale in the shop at CyB if you don't have any
- Suitable footwear eg. mtb shoes or trainers (no open toed shoes/ sandals)
- You may want to consider some eye protection - sunglasses would be fine
- Suitable clothes. MTB specific clothes, or something that you will feel comfortable in - but no baggy trousers or clothes that could get caught or snagged. Eg. tracksuit bottoms would work well, layers are good. Consider the weather (a waterproof coat is a good idea - I always carry a waterproof!!)
-A small rucksack is useful
- A drink and any snacks for the ride
- Money for the cafe
- A mask, hand sanitiser or sanitising wipes
- A spare inner tube suitable for your tyres
- Any medication that you need, or might possibly need.
COVID-19
========
Welsh Cycling (WC) have agreed protocols with the Welsh Government in order to comply with the latest Covid-19 guidance & legislation. As a ride leader WC have provided me with Covid specific training so this ride complies with the current regulations and we can keep everyone safe. I am responsible for carrying out a Covid Risk Assessment for this ride and to take reasonable measures to minimise exposure to, and the spread of, coronavirus based on that risk assessment
Based on my Risk Assessment and the current regulations here are the Covid procedures we will need to follow on this ride:
-Please make sure you have up-to-date contact information on the LetsRide system. YOU WILL NEED TO REGISTER & BOOK TO JOIN A RIDE BEFORE ARRIVING
Terms of booking a ride include, “When asked by NHS contact tracers, coaches, leaders and club volunteers are permitted to share details of participants where relevant to support the process.”
- Please try and keep social distancing at the start, finish and during the ride and during any stops we make
- Avoid sharing equipment, tools, food, water bottles etc.
- Practice good hand hygiene and bring your own hand sanitiser or sanitising wipes if you normally use them
- Remember your mask in case you need to go inside somewhere they are required, or we need to perform First Aid on you
- Please try and be self-sufficient on the ride. So we can avoid sharing tools or making repairs on your bike, please come with your own repair kit & spares and know how to use them (spare inner tube as minimum).
- If you're not confident with changing inner tubes etc, maybe think about someone who could pick you and your bike up if needed
Please DO NOT come on the ride if you have:
- tested positive for Covid or have Covid symptoms (namely a high temperature, a new, continuous cough or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste)
- have been asked to Self-isolate
- feel unwell
Please find the latest guidance from WG on contract tracing
https://gov.wales/contact-tracing-if-you-are-identified-close-contact#section-77145(NB latest WG guidance is that everyone must continue to isolate for 10 days if they have Covid-19 symptoms or if they have a positive test result)

This will be a 'Red' trail ride at beautiful Coed Y Brenin forest park, perfect for those who haven not ridden red trail for a while, or just want to come and ride with a lovely social group.
Red Mountain Bike Trails, Blue Mountain Bike Trails, Forest Roads.
You will have plenty of time for the odd stop along the way to take photos. We will most likely aim at having a nice brew/bite to eat outside the cafe after the ride (weather permitting of course)
You must be wearing an approved helmet.
