While cycling with the club at the weekend I was going super slow at the back up a horrible hill and started to look in the hedge, I noticed how many plastic bottles and cans there were, and it just made me feel sad, which is why I decided to create this ride. This will be a slow ride up to Costa on a Saturday morning, collecting recycling each way. We will go along the camel trail and then up some back roads.
This will be on the camel trail for the first 2-3 miles, and on the last 2 -3 miles, but otherwise it will be on back lanes around Bodmin on the way to Costa at Cornwall Services.
We will stop as often as needed for the people who are on the ride but also we will stop regularly (well not too regularly I hope as that means there will be far too much rubbish) to pick up cans/bottles. We will make sure if we see some we will stop in the closest entrance and walk back so we do not stop in the road, unless its to pick up one single bottle. We will finally stop at Costa at Cornwall Services for a well deserved drink and deposit of all the recycling collected on the way.
Please wear a helmet, bring a bike lock and some change. ALSO, if you have a small drawstring backpack or panniers bring those, preferably lined with a bag that can be reused, also bring some gloves as these may be needed for anything that looks a bit dirty. I will bring some latex gloves but they may not work the best.
No one will get left behind and hopfully we will be reducing a tiny amount of rubbish from the hedges in Cornwall, it may only be a small bit but every little helps!
