Recce 14: "Chessington Olympian" (Challenging)

You don’t have to be the next Bradley Wiggins, but you’ll need to know your way around a bike and be fairly fit to take part in our Challenging rides. If you’re comfortable riding with other people and fancy a fresh challenge, these rides are perfect for you. Are you up to the challenge of the Zigzag Road up to Box Hill, the iconic section of the 2012 Olympic Road Race? Can you beat the ride leaders to the top? (Hint – you probably can, so don’t forget to wait for us at the café at the top!) While the professionals take the busy route, this ride follows pleasant country roads through Oxshott, Stoke D’Abernon, Fetcham, Great Bookham and Westhumble. Test yourself on Bagden Hill before you get to Box Hill, where stunning views preface a magnificent descent through Headley Heath. We return to Chessington via Ashtead and Epsom Commons.
