Ramsbottom Clockwise Hilly

Ramsbottom Clockwise- HILLY A 17-mile route that leaves Rawtenstall by as many back roads as possible due to the roadworks, and heads out on Bury Road to Edenfield and along to come south of the centre of Ramsbottom and across to Lumb Carr Road, climbing up through Holcombe and past the Peel Tower and into Helmshore, then right to skirt Haslingden and retrace the back route to Rawtenstall. If people feel particularly jaunty we can use the Old Road to get back to Rawtenstall but that involves a lot more climbing. Otherwise, just 1300 feet of climb, and we will go at a steady pace and no one will be left behind. This could take us two and a half to three hours. Moderate road rides around Rossendale, 13-17 miles, with 1100 feet+ of climbing. Come and have a go in a supportive atmosphere! All rides leave Marl Pits Leisure Centre, Rawtenstall, BB4 7SN, at 10am on Sunday. Please text ride leader if you are running late. These rides are HILLY and for BEGINNERS. We will strictly go at the pace of the slowest rider and we will always wait at the top of hills. If you are likely to feel frustrated at the slower pace, do consider the local road clubs who also run Sunday rides. Please do bring a spare inner tube that fits your bike, drink and food. Check the weather forecast as the roads are remote. When we return to Rawtenstall we can visit a café together (if we can find one open on a Sunday in winter!) so bring a bike lock and money if you'd like to join us.
