An Evening Circuit to Rainton Meadows

Start at end of Renny’s Lane near A1 underpass. Where burger van is during the day and to the side of Magnet

Here’s a varied ride from Belmont to Rainton Meadows using a range of off and on road. We’ll follow some minor roads, old railway paths, bridleways and designated cycle paths alongside roads (A690). It isn’t for the faint hearted as there’s some uppy downies, a few rougher off road sections and a couple of busier road sections. we’ll head out via Renny’s Lane to Sherburn and Pittington, along the railway path towards Hetton le Hole and we’ll drop down to Rainton Meadows. We’ll come back via Black Boy and Marks Lanes to West Rainton and along the wide cycle path alongside the A690 and Carrville High St to the start.

In order for the ride to leave promptly, please be punctual so we can carry out bike checks, etc. prior to us setting off. Please make sure your bike is in working condition, bring a spare tube to fit your tyres and have lights in case the eve is dreary. We should be out for a couple of hours and there could be the option to stop for a cuppa/drink once back.

If you cannot make it please cancel your place using the option in let’s ride.

If there is poor weather we may need to cancel the ride and will do so no later than 5.30pm on the day. If you have not heard from us the ride is going ahead.
