Starting point

Merseyside
WA11 7TA

The first part of the ride takes us from our meeting point at the layby near to the Holdi Indian Restaurant out towards Town Green and Aughton via a loop of Rainford Junction and a short stretch of the Coach Road (weather dependent). We will cross the A59 and head towards Clieves Hill for a nice little climb(!) where will stop to get our breath back and hopefully, weather permitting, enjoy the fabulous views from the top of the hill. On a good day you can see for miles and the climb is well worth the effort! We will head towards Ormskirk via Halsall Village and after or food and drink stop return via Ruff Lane, Lylake Lane and Bickerstaffe Church to our starting point on the Rainford bypass.

Route rating

5 stars (1) Reviews

A circular ride that heads out from our starting point at Rainford towards Aughton, Clieves Hill Halsall, Ormskirk and return to Rainford mostly on hard surfaced roads and paths.

This ride is suitable for hybrid bikes (fitted with road and off-road tyres), mountain bikes and road bikes and is mostly on hard surface roads and paths.

There will be cafe stop at either the Village Bakehouse at Halsall or Brookes Bistro in Ormskirk, dependent on weather, so remember to bring along some money for a coffee and cake or whatever takes your fancy.

All riders will be required to wear a helmet and carry spare inner tubes and the means to be able to repair a puncture (assistance will be provided if required).

It is essential that everybody enjoys the ride so it will be at a pace that will be determined by the overall speed of the group (on average 9-11mph). Always remember, we will never leave anyone
