This is a high moorland ride looking at places of historical significance. We will look at the American and French Cemeteries on HMP Princetown land and our bikes will have to be locked up as we are escorted around the outside prison walls. We continue by B road to Postbridge for coffee. We then head onto quiet roads looking at a medieval village ruins and onto grimspound bronze age village. We return across the moor stopping at the Warren House Inn or the Two Bridges Hotel for Tea
We will be travelling along B roads or country lanes. There are some short steep hills where we can wait at the top for those who wish to walk.
Not everyone may want to visit the cemetary so they can wait with the bikes if they so wish. IT will cost £1.50 to visit. ALSO there is a charge to park your car all day £2 at Princetown car park. IF you want to park for free you can at the welcome to Princetown sign where there are to laybys either side of the road. We have 3 possible coffee stops Postbridge Stores, Warren House INN and Two Bridges HOTEL WE can look at the villages from the roadside or walk up to Grimspound (I will stay with the bikes)
Helmet, bike lock, snack, waterproof, inner tube and pump, and money (for coffee food car parking and museum walk fee guide).
Because this is a high moors road route I have a secondary shorter route if the weather becomes bad. I will check the weather forcast and advise riders.
