PO1 2ND

Portsmouth

If you're fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour. Starting from Nelson's statue near the Old Garrison Church on Grand Parade in Old Portsmouth, we will head to Gosport via the ferry. Once in Gosport we head towards Alverstoke and then on to Stokes Bay. We will then ride along the edge of the Solent with the Isle Wight as a backdrop passing the Diving Museum, before looping around Lee on the Solent. We will then head towards the Sail Maker public house for refreshments, using part or the cycle way which links Gosport and Fareham. We will once again be heading towards water, and taking in views of Portsdown Hill and Portsmouth Harbour passing ‘Explosion!', the Royal Naval museum of firepower before crossing the Millennium Bridge. We will then pass Royal Clarence Marina before heading back to the ferry for our trip back to Portsmouth and onto Grand Parade. For the Gosport Ferry, participants will be required to purchase adult and/or child tickets however bikes can go free. The Portsmouth side ticket machine only accepts cash - no card payments available.
