Starting point

Lincolnshire
DN35 8LQ

The ride will head out of Cleethorpes and join National Cycle Route 110 at New Waltham which in turn will connect with NCR 1 at Beelsby. The first part of the ride will be up-hill and down dale heading on a southwesterly bearing along NCR 1 through the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds.
From a height above sea level of 526ft, the ride will then descend until back to sea level at Walesby. From here it will be mostly flat as the journey continues along generally quiet country roads, unfortunately, there are a number of potholes and frost damaged road surfaces throughout the whole ride so participants will need to keep a wary eye out for any hazards.
On leaving NCR1 at Stainton by Langworth the journey continues wending and meandering its way along flat country lanes until reaching the River Witham which is crossed by a footbridge to the Water Railway.
On crossing the bridge a right turn towards Lincoln following the cycle/pedestrian path for approx. 2.5 miles to Washingborough were the route, after turning left away from the Water Railway, returns to tarmac roads with a long steady uphill ride to the destination of the International Bomber Command Centre. The distance to here is 41.5 miles.
The return journey commences with a downhill ride on Cannock Hill towards Lincoln where at the footbridge a crossing will take place before cycling alongside the south side of Waterside, passing the lock before crossing the humpback bridge to the north bank. From here the route takes a slight uphill rise, passing the ruins of Monks Abbey on the right-hand side. From here it becomes a flat ride, again, along mostly country roads and lanes until Caistor where the final uphill slog takes place. From here its a downhill ride to Riby, flat to Healing, Grimsby, Cleethorpes and the finish at the Remembrance Gate.
This is a fundraising ride for disabled ex-servicemen and women. There is no entry fee but riders may make a donation. There will be collection points at the Royal Navy Club prior to the start of the ride. For further details please visit; https://www.facebook.com/PoppyRide/
