Night Ride to the Tower of London To see the ceramic poppies that have been planted in the moat all around the Tower. Each poppy represents a life lost in the 1st world war. It is a stunning display that is still growing. We can get a drink & something to eat here. It is suitable for all types of bikes, we will be on roads most of the time. You must be able to ride your bike on busy roads & in the dark. You MUST have lights, anyone not bringing suitable lights will not be allowed on the ride. The route will go up Shooters Hill, along the A207 to Greenwich Park, then following the A200 though Deptford, Surrey Quays & Bermondsey across Tower Bridge to the Tower. We will return the same way. There is a option to return by train from London Bridge or Blackheath. The route is about 24 miles of mainly flat roads but we do have Shooters Hill at the start & finish. We will be returning through Blackheath so will can stop at the tea hut there if we don't find anything suitable at the Tower. Why not bling up yourself & your bike with some fairy lights so you really stand out. What to bring: rideable bike, water, snack, money for refreshments, LIGHTS. Other useful things, a helmet, spare inner tube, cycle locks. Please dress for the British weather, in layers and with a waterproof jacket.
