Pinner to The Crew Room

This is the inaugural ride on our route to the Crew Room at Denham Airfield. The route uses many off-road paths and quiet roads but it does have some busier sections.

We head out through Ruislip, Newyears Green and Harefield. We then face the first of two substantial climbs at Denham Green, just before we reach the airfield. Refreshments will be taken at the Crew Room and we may be able to observe some aircraft manoeuvres.

The start of our return leg requires us to pick our way along a very rough track before joining the road proper. We then make our way past the only railway station built at the request of a golf club. Taking care crossing the North Orbital Road, we enter Denham Village. Hopefully, the wisteria will be in full bloom. We continue through the Country Park to reach the canal towpath. We’ll head south for a short while before crossing the canal and taking off-road trails, and our second substantial climb, to Park Road. We then make our way back to the starting point via Swakeleys, West Ruislip and Ickenham.

This is a ride for more experienced riders due to the busier sections and the rougher off-road trails. It is not suitable for bikes with skinny tyres.

The time for the ride is a best estimate by the Ride Leader. Sometimes this can be affected by factors such as the weather, mechanical issues, the queue at the cafe, etc. We have a policy of leaving no rider behind so, if anyone is struggling, we will adjust the speed and take rest stops if necessary.
