Pendleton Pennington Pootle

Come and join us for this ride will start and finish at the car park at Pennington Hall.  From here we will take a cycle path up to the Leeds Liverpool canal and will follow this out towards Wigan, before joining a section of National Cycling Network's Route 55 which will take us through a quiet housing estate in Platt Bridge and then over Amberswood Common to Hindley.  We will stop here for refreshments and a chat at the Hockery Brook Pub following which we will pick up a cycle path that will take us to the canal towpath again and we will follow this for the return journey to Pennington Park. The total ride is approximately 20 miles along a mixture of cycle paths, canal towpath and quiet side roads and is suitable for all types of bikes except those with stabilisers or trailers. Ladies are advised to wear a helmet and suitable clothing in case of bad weather. If you have a spare inner tube for your bike please bring this along although if you don't have one please don't let this stop you from joining the ride. Also you may wish to bring along a drink to keep you hydrated during the ride and money for refreshments at the Hockery Brook.
