Pendle - History and Heritage - 11 Miler

Mixed route through Pendle Witch country starting at the picturesque Barley picnic site, taking in an initial steep road climb to Newchurch in Pendle before  a quiet road takes you Sabden Fold and the start of a bridleway to Sabden. The bridleway is slippery and roughly cobbled at the start, so care is required and wide tyred bikes are recommended. The route back from Sabden is along the valley floor before a steep rough climb takes you up on to the ridge road back towards Roughlee, the home of 'Alice Nutter'. This is via the picturesque village of Fence, before a last climb up onto the ridge and a fast descent back to Barley picnic site.
