Starting point

London
SW6 1TS

We'll be leaving from West Brompton and heading out through South West London, Hackbridge towards Coulsdon and on towards and over the South Downs and in to Brighton. The route is approx 56 miles and there are quite a few hills (Ditchling Beacon being the steepest and most challenging). We are aiming for a decent pace to make it to Brighton in under 6 hours (including comfort breaks). Please be aware this is a challenging ride, so your bike (and your legs ha!) must be up to the task.

The return ride to London is optional - some of us will be taking the train, some will be riding. It is entirely up to you to decide which you prefer but you'll need to book your own train ticket if required

This is our first Pedal Back Cycling Club ride to Brighton!

We'll be riding on a mixture of main and quieter roads, both A and B. The route is all on road (no off road) and alongside regular motorised vehicle traffic

We'll like take a stop or two en route for toilet/refreshment breaks

Helmets definitely advised as this is a long ride. The weather looks pretty good so far but sunscreen ideal if it's sunny. Water a must, energy bars/gels if you like, and cash/card for food and drink en route and when we get Brighton. Also recommend a spare innertube or two just in case!

New riders to the group are more than welcome but as this is a challenging ride, road experience essential.
