A 42-mile hilly road ride with 2,500ft of climbing to Lingfield and back. Lingfield is a village in the Tandridge district of Surrey. It has a medieval church, from the Tudor period, to which we can make a brief visit (the church I mean, not the Tudor Period, unless your bicycle has time-machine mode!). The Lingfield Park racecourse is hosting this Saturday's UK Cycling Events Surrey Hills Cyclone sportive & the Canyon Bikes Demo Day. Perhaps we could take a brief look on our way back. The outbound & inbound routes are not the same, but do overlap at the half-way point for a few miles. We will take a very short break at around the 10-mile mark at a pub, outbound & in. A slightly longer pub stop in Lingfield is negotiable!. Just remember, we'll have to climb Titsey Hill on the return leg. It's one of the 10 toughest climbs in the Surrey Pyrenees! ("A sluggish, leg-draining road surface ensures you hit the worst part of Titsey with zero-momentum, and it's a real battle from the off. But, if you can make it past the first 300m/1,000ft, it does ease off a tad, and you can get a steady rhythm to the top.") Chalkpit Lane is one of those 10 toughest climbs, but fortunately, we'll be descending here, on the way out. It's a tough descent though, poor road surface, and a wicked hairpin bend... so watch your speed!
