Otford to Folkestone Ride

Meeting Points : Bromley South Station Forecourt at 0855 hrs for the 0914 hrs to Otford or Otford Station on the Sevenoaks bound platform at 0937 hrs NB – The train from Bromley South to Otford passes through Crofton Park at 0900 hrs and Catford at 0903 hrs The Ride: (Led by Andrew Fergar) Today's ride builds on the experience gained in the recent Bromley to Folkestone Ride. By starting from leafy Otford we cut out most of the busy roads and some of the hills too; we also shorten our journey to about 60 miles. There will be two fairly serious hills near the start – but after that not a lot! At least half of the route is more or less flat, so we can keep up a fair pace (11 - 14 mph with a following wind!)… without getting overtaxed – this is your chance to cover quite a bit of ground, perhaps even challenging your personal best …and being lead by someone who is very far from a speed merchant …and I never wear lycra (editor’s note: god forbid!) I anticipate getting to the Bell & Jorrocks in Frittenden by around 1300 hrs (perhaps earlier) – where we will have lunch (please drop me a line if you want lunch – so I can pre-warn the landlord). Once we hit the seaside at Hythe – we will have a little photo/paddling stop …to celebrate our achievement….. after which we will have one last mini beastly hill to surmount into Folkestone town-centre …then onto trains home. I would hope to catch the 1736 hrs from Folkestone Central – which goes to Charing Cross and stops at Sevenoaks, where we can change for Bromley or the Catford Loop for other London destinations. Tickets: In groups of 4 we will be able to use group saver options: Bromley South – Otford, cost pp will be £3.30 - £4.00 depending on numbers.
