Starting from - 260 metres Head west out of car park so that the river is on your left 490 metres Left over bridge 1.78 km Take the middle track through the barrier (do not take Old Tram Road) 3.29 km Cross Todd Ln N Junction, be prepared to dismount 3.70 km After stile turn left 3.86 km Caution large roundabout cross junction using the cycleway 3.98 km Turn left under roadway then right 4.08 km Low tunnel under railway line dismounting recommended 4.38 km Left on Dewhurst Row Matalan Left on Holme Road 4.72 km Turn left on Cycleway 55 5.17 km Turn right before main road - B6258 - to cycle lane Cross the road and turn right to the lights 5.30 km Cross Lostock Lane - A6 - junction using the cycle crossing lights and head down Wigan Road - A49 5.76 km Under the M65 motorway bridge 5.95 km Turn left into Wigan Road car park Through the stile and follow the track over the motorway bridge 6.27 km Follow path as it 6.68 km Keep cycling straight forward on path at this junction 7.14 km Left over the bridge and turn right by the river 8.22 km Car Park on the right and stile 8.28 km Turn right on the cycle path (Sheep Hill Lane - B5256) beware overgrowing bushes 8.43 km Dismount and cross road on left to cyclepath 55 9.56 km Ruins of Lower Kern Mill on the left 9.92 km Car Park on right is the end point of the outbound leg.
