To continue with our Ray Londsale theme this year, this tarmac route takes us to Metal Bridge to see a Ray Lonsdale War Memorial sculpture "Not to much to ask".
Our route takes us down into Shincliffe and along to Durham University. Leaving the iniversity we head down the A167 to Sunderland Bridge and along a quiet country road through Hett Village to Thinford Lane. We will cross this busy road and follow a quiet pathway to Metal Bridge to where the sculpture stands. We will recross Thinford Lane and take the footpath to Coxhoe where we will weave our way through back streets and through Coxhoe Park. Our route then takes us through Parkhill, along the new road to Bowburn and down to Sherburn Hill where we will stolp at Betty Bees for refreshments.

Our ride is mostly on quiet roads and/or cycle paths, but there are a couple of sections that require us to cycle on shortish busier roads. Suitable for most bikes, although hybrids and road bikes are most suited to this route. There is no rough ground.
In order for the ride to leave promptly, please be punctual so we can carry bike checks, etc. prior to us setting off. Expect to be out for 3 hours in total which includes the refreshment stop and photo opportunities. The weather can be very unpredictable at this time of year, so please make sure you dress appropriately and have rain protective clothing to hand, We always advise the wearing of a helmet, and you are required to carry a spare inner tube that fits your bike with you.
