This steady paced ride explores some of the beautiful countryside to the north of Atherstone. The route is mostly flat, with a few gentle inclines to stretch the legs and is ideal for those riders wishing to get a few more miles under their belt.
From the start point we ride north out of Atherstone on Sheepy Road, en route to Pinwall where we then head north-west towards Warton. From here, the road climbs steadily for around three-quarters of a mile to Orton-on-the-Hill, but your efforts are rewarded with superb views over the surrounding open countryside.
Having climbed steadily, we now descend for the next couple of miles heading along Orton Lane and on to Sheepy Magna where we then turn east onto Sheepy Road towards our well-earned refreshments stop at The Cock Inn in Sibson.
Suitably rested and refuelled, and with around only a third of our journey remaining, our return to Atherstone is via Ratcliffe Culey. The final uphill stretch into the town along Ratcliffe Road should not pose too much of a problem however, and in no time at all we’re back at Market Square and the end of our Wander!
