We head out of the velodrome car park and onto the cycle path which will take us up the side of the river and through Newport to Caerleon. Once out of Caerleon, we cycle along Bulmore road and then turn onto Abernant Road and the cheeky climb to Catsash. The reward of the downhill the other side and the imminent coffee stop make it worthwhile though!
After a well earned rest, we follow the cycle path down towards the Coldra roundabout. Once over the crossings, we stay on the path to the turn at Llanwern. Then it's a little up and over through the new housing estate and then it's pretty much flat all of the way back. We will ride through Bishton and then through the levels to Nash before the final stretch along the road back to the velodrome.

An undulating and circular route along quiet country lanes

The initial part of the route is traffic free and then from Caerleon, it switches to country lanes

We will stop at Cabin Cwtch in Langstone for a rest and refreshments

Please wear a helmet and bring along a lock and some money for the rest stop. It is also a good idea to carry a spare tube just in case.

First-timers welcome!
