Heaton Park
A child friendly easy ride from the Pavilion overlooking the old bowling green in Heaton Park. The route starts with a few warm up laps of the Heaton Park paths to get comfortable on your bike and to get ready for exploring the Dene. There's a fun little detour to see the famous shoe tree. The huge shady rhododendrons make a deep green corridor that's cool on a hot day and are spectacular riots of colour if still in flower - a beautiful shared use path takes you traffic free to Jesmond Dene. You'll ride up the Red Walk to see the Waterfalls. The stop for a cuppa at the Millfield visitors centre gives a chance for a break and a look round Pets Corner and the Pet Cemetery. You'll return over the beautiful Victorian Armstrong Bridge back the way you came. The route is almost entirely off road, with a short stretch of quiet shared road alongside Pets Corner in Jesmond Dene.
