New Years Day Ride Hoddlesden and Belthorn

Let's start the new year off in style with a ride to wake us from our festive slumbers. We set off from Leo's carpets, and head through Beardwood to Revidge lights where we turn right and cycle along Billinge End, past the Clog & Billycock before going down the hill and through Pleasington to Feniscowles. Here we cycle along the canal towpath (tarmacked) as far as Ewood and the majestic VenkyDome. No time to stop as we join the River Darwen Cycleway to Lower Darwen, then up Stopes Brow and join the Roman Road. We turn left before the big hill and cycle through Hoddlesden where we turn left again to climb Pickup Bank to Jackson Heights. The view from the top are (normally) stupendous but no guarantees, I'm afraid as the weather can sometimes intervene. We join the busy Grane Road briefly before cycling through Belthorn village and then over the footbridge to cross the M65 motorway. From here we criss-cross the shadsworth business park before cycling back to our start point. All are welcome, the ride is for us all to enjoy and is led today by Jim Curtis
