Join us for the annual New Year's Day ride. We set off from MacDonald's at Marsh Mills at 10h00, following Plymouth Road. We'll head off towards Wotter via Plympton, then Cadover Bridge, before heading for a cafe stop at the Rock Inn, Yelverton. From Yelverton, provided there's no ice risk, we'll return via the Plym Valley trail.
If there's a risk of ice on the Plym Valey - it doesn't get gritted, unlike the roads - we'll return via the same route as we took to Yelverton.
PLEAS NOTE: This ride will average 12mph. This is to allow riders to keep warm. While people who don't generally ride at that speed can stay warm at far slower speeds, faster riders simply won't generate enough body heat to stay warm.

*Please do NOT sign up for this ride if you cannot maintain that average speed over this distance*.

There are a fair few hills on the route, as the elevation profile will show.

This is usually a great ride, and a fantastic way to start the new year. The weather can range from crisp and dry, to sleet, and anything in between. The only guarantee we have for the weather is that it will be cold. If you're starting to feel cold, the best remedy is to simply pedal faster, plus of course a nice warm drink at the Rock Inn.
