I hope, with the longer days, you’re feeling more inspired to go cycling a little further.
This month’s ride is a 20 mile circuit and – believe it or not – I’m still finding routes I haven’t done before! (though most of the roads are now fairly familiar.) We’ll start as usual from the car park by the River Bridge in Shipston and leave town up the Campden Road. Traffic lights halfway up will give us a respite stop for a breather. Crossing the Fosseway at the Portobello Crossroads lights we’ll continue on the Campden Road until we branch off for Charringworth and then head down via Paxford and Aston Magna into Moreton. There is a good choice of coffee stops there which I’ll recce on my pre-ride. The home route will be directly through Todenham, crossing the A3400 at Mitford Bridge and over to Burmington, Willington and past Barcheston.
There will be a couple of more challenging uphills than we’re used to of late, but don’t be daunted – we always wait at the tops for everyone to catch up and get their breath back.
Much as I’d love to have you on the ride, please don’t come if you have COVID symptoms. Masks are still advised when in close proximity with others or in indoor settings.
Ensure your bike is roadworthy with tyres well pumped and brakes in good order. The weather is likely to be dry but with a chilly breeze, so do dress appropriately. A helmet is advised but is not compulsory. Bring water in a bottle and cash or card for your coffee.
