Slaithwaite

Join us on this great Sky Ride Local ride from the village of Slaithwaite along the historic Huddersfield Narrow Canal. This route is seeping in history with the legendary tale of the smugglers who were caught 'raking for the moon'.  There is more just old tales to keep you entertained on this ride as we head along the towpath through fields and woodlands, crossing quiet roads on a virtually traffic free route. Enjoy seeing lots of farms and wildlife along the route. The industrial history of the area can also be seen in the many mills we will pass.  Suitable for riders young and old as the ride is along the canal towpath it’s as flat as it can be!  If you enjoy this ride there are loads more Sky Ride Locals in this area to go on throughout summer! If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.
