Monsal Trail Meander

Looking for something to do with the children during the summer holidays that's free and good for you? Then why not come for a sociable cycle on the easy-going Monsal Trail near Bakewell. We'll meet in the car park behind the main building at Hassop Station, close to the gate onto the Monsal Trail. After a quick bike check, we'll head off along the traffic free trail towards Monsal Head. Our route takes us through the beautiful Derbyshire countryside and there should still be the remnants of wild flowers to admire in the verges. We get to go through the first lit tunnel before arriving at Monsal Head where it really is worth getting off the bikes to admire the stunning view. We may take the opportunity here to have a drink and snack before heading further along the trail towards Cressbrook Mill. We can look down from the trail towards the Mill before retracing our route back to Hassop Station where we can relax in the cafe and sample some of their delicious cake and coffee. Don't worry if you haven't ridden your bike for sometime. This is an ideal route to get you back into the saddle plus it has the novelty of being able to cycle through the tunnel! It's a good idea to bring a drink and perhaps a snack, also some change for the car park and cake afterwards. Children under 16 need to be accompanied by an adult who is riding and under 18's need to wear a helmet but otherwise, wear comfortable clothing. Look forward to seeing you soon.
