This is a slightly longer Gentle Breeze ride and is great if you want to build up your experience on a bike which will enable you to progress to Breeze ‘Steady’ rides. You may find these rides stop slightly less or have a couple more hills than ‘Easy’ rides. Our ride goes at a pace that suits the people on it. The roads should be fairly quiet.
We will cycle through Harestock and Littleton to the pretty village of Crawley. Here we will stop to visit Little Court which is a sheltered naturalist garden especially memorable in spring. The garden is part of the National Garden Scheme and there is an admission of £6 (cashless payment) (
https://ngs.org.uk/gardens/little-court-so21/). Afterwards we will visit the village hall (opposite) for home-made refreshments. We will return to Winchester via Stud Lane and Worthy Lane.
Please check your bike is in good working order and conduct a pre-ride safety check on your bike
https://www.sustrans.org.uk/our-blog/get-active/mcheck/Please also bring:
- Inner tube/ pump/ tyre levers for puncture repair (don't worry about getting a puncture, we can help)
- A snack, if you think you will need one, and a drink
- Layers to suit the weather (no special gear is required just safe shoes/trainers)
- Mobile phone
- A lock for your bike and cash/ payment card for the coffee stop.
There is no charge for car parking at Hillier Way car park for the first three hours; a short walk from the start or pay parking is available outside the disused leisure centre.
Please feel free to message me if you have any questions.
We especially welcome newcomers!
