This ride is mainly on roads and cycle paths , starting probably at the highest point of the ride on Ashurst Beacon , we head down the back towards Parbold, and then towards Rufford , before skirting around the edge of Ormskirk towards Simonswood , and Halsall and then making our way along the cycle path along the A570 (Rainford Bypass) where we will be stopping for food at Inglenook Farm . After a light bite we head towards Crank Hill , then over the top of Crank to the bottom of Shaley Brow , we don't climb it this time , we head out towards Kings Moss and over to Tower Hill (2nd Climb) before a slight down hill to the foot of the easier side of Ashurst Beacon where we climb back up to the start /finish point . 40.2 miles in total with no more than 600 ft of climbs . It sounds worse than it is , most of the regular riders will do this quite easily .
