Midsummer Morning Breeze

We'll meet at the car park of The Southwell Trail on Station Road, then ride up Normanton Road/Hockerton Road towards the Spread Eagle at Hockerton, then turn to ride up to Newfield Dairy & Ice-cream Parlour at Hockerton Heights. We'll enjoy a coffee or a home-made ice-cream at this amazing cafe, as we watch the pedigree herd of Holstein cows graze in the fields next to the Parlour. We'll then ride the route in reverse back to our starting point. This is a relatively short ride (3.5 miles each way) but there is a hill near the start, so you'll need to be confident to ride uphill with your gears. The benefit is that it's pretty much downhill all the way home! Although we are riding on quiet country roads, this is nevertheless a road-ride all the way, so you'll need to be stable and confident on your bike as this route is not traffic-free. We’ll always ride at the pace of the slowest rider so no one is left behind. We really welcome newcomers to our rides.  It's a good idea to bring some water and you may also want to bring a snack if you think your energy levels may need topping up along the way.  Wearing a helmet is advisable, though not essential.
