Middleton Hall Bake 180 – Ride Description
This steady social ride takes you from Mere Green (B74 4BG) out into the quieter lanes north of Sutton Coldfield, finishing with a well‑earned stop at the much‑loved Bake 180 Coffee Shop in the courtyard of historic Middleton Hall. The route covers roughly 30 miles, making it a great choice for riders looking to stretch their legs without tackling anything too intense.
You’ll roll out on mainly main roads and familiar local lanes, gradually leaving the busier areas behind as the ride opens into more scenic countryside. Expect a mix of gentle climbs, flowing descents, and long steady sections where you can settle into a comfortable rhythm. It’s a friendly, no‑drop ride—perfect for building confidence or getting back into the swing of things after time off the bike.
The highlight of the route is the mid‑ride stop at Bake 180, a cyclist‑favourite café known for its warm welcome, secure bike racks, and excellent cakes, breakfasts, and coffee. Riders from all over the region use it as a regular hub, and it’s the ideal place to refuel before the return leg.
After the café break, the route loops back toward Sutton Coldfield, retracing some quiet lanes and giving you a smooth run back to the start point. With a relaxed pace, supportive group atmosphere, and a great café stop, this ride is perfect for anyone wanting a sociable Sunday spin.
