Here’s a chance for a festive pedal around Durham followed by an optional cafe stop off at Durham Cathedral to add to the Christmas mood.

We’ll circumnavigate the city, starting along the riverbanks, traversing the university, rising to Merryoaks, breezing along the A167 cycle path, short cutting through New College, meandering via Newton Hall for the descent via Frankland Farm back to the river and the city.

Christmas attire is optional for bikes and/or riders but please ensure your safety isn’t compromised and that you are warm enough for the weather conditions. Please make sure you’ve got a spare tube to fit your tyres and Santa will be on hand to help with any bike issues.

By Durham standards this is averagely hilly but the plus is that we will be sticking to tarmac and good quality off road surfaces so suitable for any bike and we will be pedalling at a leisurely festive pace.

In order for the ride to leave promptly, please be punctual so we can carry out bike checks, etc. prior to setting off. Expect to be out cycling for at least 2 hours plus another hour or more if having a cuppa after.

For any last minute cancellations on the day please text 07708327943 (note this phone is only for the day of the ride). If the weather is poor we will only contact you if we are cancelling the ride and will do so no later than 9am on the day by putting a message in the ‘conversation’ tab in the ride. You should receive a notification by email if there is a message. If you have not heard from us we are still riding.
