Plenty of quiet country lanes and chocolate box Hampshire villages on this route. Parking at Mattingley Church, we initially head over the M3 to Mapledurwell. Then to Cliddesden, where we have our only “official” climb of the day to Ellisfield. Beautiful country lanes enroute. At the top, we can enjoy a long downhill to coffee at Honesty Cafe at Dummer at 17 miles. A few undulations but nothing too challenging, as we loop around to East Oakley and a few miles of downhill through Wooten St Lawrence and Sherbourne St John. If you are lost by now, you may recognise NT The Vine as we pass it on our route to Bramley, where it’s just 6 more miles back to the start around the flat area of Statfield Saye. (an optional second stop for a cuppa at The Barn, Bramley if we wish).

Cycle helmets are compulsory. Please check your bike the night before, chain oiled, tyres fully inflated (makes it easier!), and always carry a spare inner tube suitable for your tyre size. And preferable two! And a pump which you know fits your valve.
