Pooley Bridge market square by the fish sundial monument. (in front of the shops)

This ride will start in the market square where the large fish sundial monument stands. This is because there are a number of paying car parks as well as free on road parking places. The ride will travel out of the village towards the Eastern side of Ullswater lake passing Howtown & Sandwick. We travel along country road with a few small hills, as we continue into Martindale valley there's a big winding hill to climb, it is manageable. At the top you will get some magnificent photos of Ullswater lake Mountains and valley. We continue on a newly laid road with lots of loose chippings (be careful if you're on a road bike.) the road is undulation until the end where there's a slight climb to Dale Head. This is where you will see the deer/stags on the towering mountains, It's a social ride and we will ride to the pace of the slowest rider. I recommend you wear a helmet, bring a lightweight waterproof jacket,a spare inner tube, a drink and snack. We return by the same route and on returning to Pooley Bridge we'll have time for a drink, cake or lunch in a local cafe or pub in the market square.
