Taking advantage of the drier, summer conditions, the planned route has a good proportion of off-road trails. We'll follow the Thames up to Long Wittenham, then down to Harwell via Didcot, up to the Ridgeway before looping back to Wallingford. Approx 30 miles.

Route rating

The actual route will be decided prior to the ride taking account for prevailing conditions. The planned route loops west of Wallingford, down to Harwell and a section of the Ridgeway path.

A large proportion of off-road tracks until we descend from the Ridgeway to country lanes back to Wallingford.

One cafe stop during the ride. There is also a variety of cafes and pubs in Wallingford to enjoy after the ride.

Check the weather and dress accordingly. You should also bring a puncture repair kit with either patches or a spare tube. Hybrid style or mountain bikes are ideal. Bikes with narrow, slick tyres may have difficulty with some of the off-road sections. All bikes must be in a safe roadworthy condition. Helmets are required and front and rear lights recommended.
