Magor to Christchurch viewpoint - new route and café

We will head out of Magor through Llandevenny, Bishton and Underwood. Then we have a about a mile along a busier road as we start our climbing to the viewpoint. At Langstone we head along the Old Roman Road past Catsash and round the back of the Celtic Manor golf course to reach the viewpoint. This is the hilliest part of the route.
At the viewpoint we will stop for a snack at the café before reversing the route to Catsash where we will drop down to the A48. Then it is across the road and through LLanwern, Bishton and around the Gwent levels back to Magor.

A ride of 2 distinct halves. Riding from Magor up to the viewpoint at Christchurch, it is a hilly route but then the return leg is either downhill or flat as we loop back through the Gwent levels. A good ride to improve your climbing skills and gain confidence on some busier roads.

A small portion of the route is traffic free but the majority is using roads. Most of these are quieter lanes but there are a couple of sections on busier roads so you need to be confident to ride these.

We will stop at a couple of different points along the route. Our first stop will be the Christchurch viewpoint and then we will stop in Beechwood park for refreshments.

Please wear a helmet and bring along a lock and some money for the café. Also, please make sure you have a spare tube just in case.
