By the Auctioneers statue, Sainsbury's (Station Rd, entrance side) Cockermouth. P&D Parking available in Sainsbury's OR free round about on Sundays.

Leaving Cockermouth via the Lorton Road we will head out towards Hundith Hill turning right at the crossroads onto quieter back roads with some stunning views up the valley before crossing the River Cocker at Low Lorton & heading back into town along a mixture of B & unclassified roads before dropping onto Cockermouth's well-hidden Greenway back to our start point. Helmets are essential, a spare inner tube useful, comfortable clothing – a waterproof if wet, some water & a snack are advisable. Money for cake & coffee at the end a good idea! Most of the route is on good tarmac roads but there is a section along an unkept U road of about 300m. Therefore, road bikes with slick tires are not advised. The ride is suitable for beginners, ladies returning to cycling and experienced riders alike wanting to see a different part of Cumbria. We will ride at the pace of the slowest rider so no one is left behind. The aim being to have an enjoyable social ride in the company of others; build up confidence were necessary in a positive supportive environment.
