Starting point

Midlothian
EH3 9PF

We will ride from the Leamington lift bridge to the Meadows and then on to the entrance to Holyrood Park near the Commonwealth Pool. From there, we will join the Innocent Railway path just after the Innocent tunnel. We will continue on the Innocent path through Bingham and The Jewel to Brunstane, where we take Brunstane Road (closed to through traffic) to the Promenade at Joppa. We then take the coastal road to Fisherrow harbour and circle around Fisherrow links park to the Electric bridge where we can cross the River Esk. After following the East bank of the Esk for a short distance, we take the path between Levenhall links and Musselburgh racecourse. We then circle anticlockwise around Levenhall links. Our return route will be very similar to our outward one, except that we will go directly to Fisherrow harbour rather than going around Fisherrow link), up Brunstane Burn rather than going to the promenade at Joppa, through the Innocent tunnel rather than going into Holyrood Park and through Bruntsfield links and down Leamington Terrace to return to the lift bridge rather than staying on the Meadows.

Route rating

0 stars (0) Reviews

We will cycle from Edinburgh out to Levenhall Links in Musselburgh and back.

Approximately 13 miles of the route will be on cycle or shared use paths, with the remaining 5 miles on roads. Some of these roads have a dedicated cycle lane, and you will be guided on the roads by the leaders at all times.

We will stop at Costa by The Range for refreshments, and at points along the way to catch our breath. We will cycle at a gentle pace and make sure that nobody gets left behind. Toilets are available at Fisherrow harbour (which we pass on our outward and return journeys) and at our refreshment stop at Costa.

Helmets are strongly advised. Bring a payment card or cash if you wish to buy any refreshments at our stop. Bring a bike lock if you have one, but don’t worry if you don’t as we can lock bikes to each other. Also bring a spare inner tube if you can and have planned a means of getting home in the event of mechanical breakdown (taxi, phone a friend etc).

We never leave anyone behind
