This is a lovely route taking in some of the best scenery. It’s lumpy and we will be tackling a fairly decent ascent about half way. We will leave from the main road, passing through Bowhill just after Broadmeadows, passing Newark Tower with its horrible history and go through Philphaugh Estate too. There are some fairly poor parts of Road so we may dismount in a couple of places for safety. We will make plenty of stops to drink and refuel. Stopping at the Waterwheel Cafe when we arrive back in Selkirk.

A ride along the Ettrick Valley cutting across Witchie Knowe to the Yarrow Valley.

Mainly quiet roads along we will cycle along a small part of A7 to join the cycle path. Some A roads which shouldn’t be too busy but we will avoid as many as possible.

Stop at the Waterwheel Cafe on our way back to Selkirk.

Helmets are essential on this ride. Please bring layers and be prepared for Spring weather in southern Scotland i.e. any weather! You’ll need plenty of water/drink and snacks as we will be out for a while before our cafe stop which is near the end of the ride. Spare inner tubes and any tools you need specifically for your bike. Please check your bike in advance to make sure it’s in good working order.

We never leave anyone behind
