This a lovely circular route on railway paths and quiet B roads.

We will meet at Longniddry Train Station Car Park nearest the start of the railway walk then we will follow the railway path to Haddington. Once at Haddington we will join the road taking the B6369 to Gifford for lunch / refreshments. Please bring a picnic lunch or you can purchase lunch / refreshments at one of the cafes in the village.
We will return to Longniddry via quiet country roads following the B6368 through Samuelston then connecting back onto the Railway path to Longniddry Train Station Car Park.

The Railway path is a hard packed surface, it does however get muddy on occasion, depending on recent weather, so is suitable for Mountain bikes,Gravel bikes and Hybrids. We will be riding on B roads as well so please ensure you are use to riding in a group. This ride is a mixture of shared paths, railway walks and roads. If your not sure if your bike is suitable send me a message and we can have a chat.

Please note this route is challenging and uphill.

Helmets must fit and be worn correctly, lights are advised, be bright and be seen! Please wear clothes appropriate for the weather, bring a drink, a spare inner tube, and a pump if you have one and the means to get home if your bike breaks down (taxi / friend etc). Ebikes are welcome and we ride as a group and never leave anyone behind!

I have allocated 4 hours for this ride. This is an appoximate time as it depends on several factors ie weather, any breakdowns, accidents or delays.

NOTE
Challenging rides....
If you have built up your experience on a bike, have a good level of fitness, are confident with bike handling and cycling on roads, it sounds like you are ready for challenging rides. These rides enable you to progress your cycling: ride greater distances, at a faster pace, on busier roads.
Suitable for people with a good level of fitness and group cycling experience.
Rides might be on busier roads, have steeper hills and fewer stops.
Café stops are often included in challenging rides, so there should be time to get your breath and eat. However, it will be helpful if you can eat and drink whilst pedalling and have food easily accessible in a back pocket and a bottle cage on your bike. These skills are not essential though; you can work on them whilst attending these rides.
