The novelty on this ride is the use of the Elizabeth Line for the outward leg. The Elizabeth Line is the only deep line that allows full size bicycles. Some delays at lifts, but trains are roomy and will not be crowded on a Saturday morning. And they take just 13 min from Whitechapel to Woolwich.
Start 9.30 at Southwark Needle (London Bridge) for an estimated 3½ hour round trip with Bruce leading. Note slightly earlier time than usual. There are 3 stages to the ride. First we will ride to Whitechapel Station. Step free access is from the back entrance on Durward St. Stage 2 is the Elizabeth Line to Woolwich Arsenal. Bring travel card or equivalent. Stage 3 will be the 9 mile ride back to London Bridge using lots of Thames Path and Cycleway. Short coffee stop during return leg. Quite a complex ride. Looking for a logistic challenge? This is the ride for you! . Report from 2022, https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/halthy-ride-reports-2022/ride-reports-nov-19th-2022/
Riders of all ages are welcome on Healthy Rides but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Same for “adults at risk” If you cannot make a ride, please cancel so that someone else can take the place. This ride is part of a regular programme of Saturday rides by Southark Cyclists, more information at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/.

Hybrid route - train out, cycle back. Elizabeth line is quick and roomy. Flat ride back along Thames past many places of interest.

Mostly off road path.

Lots of short stops at points of interest plus a coffee break somewhere.

Just yourself and your bike.

First-timers welcome!
