Starting point

Merseyside
L22 0LY

LINEAR route connecting two Merseyrail stations Waterloo and Hunts Cross. A direct train (every 30 minutes https://www.merseyrail.org/plan-your-journey/30-minute-timetable.aspx) will return participants to the start point. All Merseyrail trains have ample accommodation for bicycles (at least 4 places on each train not including the disabled place provision). Many stations have step-free access; Hunts Cross has a lift in construction, so currently has a stepped ramp access.

After a loop to see Another Place, the Anthony Gormley statues, the ride route will head inland along quiet roads to the Liverpool loop line, then follow this to the Halewood Triangle park, finishing at the nearby Hunts Cross Station.

At busier road crossings, there is always an alternative option of using signalled pedestrian crossings.

There may be some sand, mud and raised tree roots. Please bring a suitable road-worthy bicycle as well as layers suitable for the weather conditions.

See the Anthony Gormley Metal Men of Another Place, then connect across to Liverpool Loop Line to finish at Hunts Cross Station where metal rails will reconnect you with the metal men! NOTE: This is a linear route, so use of a Merseyrail train ticket will be need to travel back to the start point, Merseyrail trains have lots of room for bicycles (both end carriages) and most stations have lifts, so train travel with your bicycle is well accommodated.

The majority of the route is off-road, but some quiet roads will be used to link the off-road routes. Where the route crosses busier roads, signal-controlled junctions or alternative signalled pedestrian crossings are possible to use. This route is not recommended for road bikes with skinny summer tyres as some surfaces may be sandy, muddy or wet. Due to the season, mudguards, layers and a full set of waterproofs are recommended.
