Let's Ride Further - Dick Turpin Ride

See more, ride for longer and discover more places than ever before with Ride Further. Typically covering around forty miles, these rides will test you and require an added level of endurance, fitness and stamina. You’ll need a road bike and be able to comfortably cover at least thirty miles, at an average speed of 13-15mph, to get involved – if you’ve joined one of our Challenging rides before, then Ride Further could be the next step for you. Come and join us on this brilliant Dick Turpin themed 41 mile route.  Although it's mainly about the cycling what better that to learn about the 'poacher, burglar, horse thief, highwayman and killer' that was Dick Turpin along the way!Starting at Redbridge Cycling Centre the route takes us past many notable points of Turpin’s life from the forests, where along with the Essex Gang, they would poach royal deer and oxen; the farmhouses and estates where he would burgle and rustle horses; and through Epping Forest, where he achieved infamy as a highwayman. Bring this route back to the modern day we will cover sections of the 2014 Tour de France route.  With so much to see along the way as well as getting 40 miles of cycling under our legs this ride is certainly not to be missed!
