Leighton Buzzard to Rickmansworth

This route closely follows the Tour de Ricky 100km audax which runs in early summer, and expects to be pacey (averaging a minimum of 17mph). If everyone signs up to the full loop from Rickmansworth, we will bypass Leighton Buzzard.

A good level of fitness, road confidence and bike handling are required. This ride is mainly along quiet B roads through pleasant Chilterns countryside, with the odd village and old town en route. However, there is a short section of A roads and roundabouts on the approach to Rickmanworth.

It is an undulating route with a total ascent of 1275ft and descent of 1375ft. The steepest climb is 13% after a mile of climbing; and the steepest descent is 6%. We have the option of a pitstop shortly before the main climb at Mead's Farm Shop & Tea Room in Wilstone Green 13.5 miles in (almost 50 miles into the full return route from Rickmansworth)

Please ensure your bike is in good working order, you have spares and kit with you, and are dressed for the ride and the weather (including bicycle helmet). Water and snacks are a good idea but please do arrive well hydrated and fed if you are planning on doing the full out and back.
