Ride going to St Aidan's bird reserve near Methley, using the TPT for the stretch beyond Wakefield. There are slightly loose surfaces in the bird reserve which are fine if you avoid hard braking.
A road bike ridden with care will handle this route - you may prefer tyres with a bit of width & tread.
This route uses the bridge over the Calder up which bikes need be carried. We can return via the road if preferable..
We can also use the canal tow path for a flatter return, though the bit past the Navigation pub is not road bike friendly..
Stopping point at Rivers Meet cafe in Methley.
