The Wainrights Inn - Parking available on Elterwater common

This route will form part of a the fabulous Langdale Beer & Bike Festival during the bank holiday weekend at the end of May. It is located in the beautiful Langdale valley at the heart of the Lake District. The ride will leave at 11am however please arrive with plenty of time to spare and do make the most of the pre-ride bacon rolls provided by the local school for a small donation from 10am. This route gently meanders through the quiet lanes of Langdale, Hawkshead and Coniston. We will ride south out of the Langdale valley towards Wray Castle on the edge of Windermere, from there we will head towards Coniston via Hawkshead Hill taking in the breathtaking views of the Lakeland fells. A quick stop at the stunning Tarn Hows and then a nice descent to the Bluebird cafe on the shores of Coniston for Coffee and Cake. After that it is a steady ride back up to Elterwater, finishing back at Chapel Stile for a well earned pint! Due to the lumpy nature of the area this route does have a few ups and downs therefore it isn't recommended for beginners, we expect to average around 8-10mph it will be a nice social ride and we will stick together. We look forward to seeing you there! :) A note from the organisers below: The Langdale Beer and Bikes Festival is a celebration of beer and bikes, the finest pastimes the Lake District has to offer. Blessed with awesome trails, routes, hills and scenery and of course some locally brewed ales the event brings together riders and drinkers for an amazing day out. Located in Chapel Stile, in the Langdale Valley, fun social rides in the heart of the Lake District. Rides for everyone from families to hard core weekend warriors make this an event not to be missed. Ride with friends and make new ones on the ride and over a beer or two (or three or four!) There will be a choice of road and mountain bike ride to suit all abilities and inclinations or do your own thing and come and enjoy a pint with the other riders afterwards everyone is welcome (even non bikers) The rides are led by volunteers and are free, the pre ride refreshments are courtesy of Langdale Primary School in return for a donation. The beer comes from Bowness Bay Brewing and won’t break the bank no matter how hard you get stuck in. http://langdalebeerandbikes.co.uk/
