Lancaster

A gentle and almost totally flat ride of just over 12 miles. All of which except about 200m is on traffic free tarmaced surfaces, so suitable for all ages and abilities. Starting from Salt Ayre leisure centre the route heads out to Morecambe where you can see features like the stone jetty and Midland Hotel, or learn about personalities such as Eric Morecambe or Commander Charles Forsberg.

From there the route heads north with wide open views across Morecambe bay to the Lakeland hills to Hest Bank where it joins the Lancaster canal to head back towards Lancaster. The final stretch is alongside the river Lune  before crossing on the Millenium bridge and heading back to Salt Ayre.
