Knottingley, Wakefield

This is a great 17 mile loop that provides a great introduction to the area by bike. Starting at the Knottingley Sports Centre the town and the power stations are soon left behind and you will ride down though the countryside to Darrington. From there you'll pass the very recognisable castle farm before moving into quiet lanes and birdsong. Keep an eye and ear open for yellow hammers, pheasant and grouse and an unexpected metal bird parked next to a lake.
