Kielder Dark Skies Festival
Pace will be steady, but e-bike highly recommended. 50% off hire. See Kielder info below.
We'll be in the hands of Kielder staff for this one, as they lead this ride on the 12 mile, blue graded, OSPREY TRAIL as part of the Kielder Dark Skies Festival. Consequently, this is NOT women only.
If you are joining us, please ALSO secure a ticket on the Kielder link below (e-bike hire on same link - use discount code NIGHTRIDE for 50% discount)...

Ready to trade streetlights for stars? Join us for a special guided forest ride through Kielder Forest (e-bike recommended) under one of the UK’s darkest, most epic night skies - part of the North East Dark Skies Festival.
Northumberland is the UK’s leading dark sky destination, with gold tier status, and Kielder Forest offers some of the darkest, most scenic night-time trails in the region.
The festival highlights the importance of preserving Northumberland’s dark skies. It combines science, culture, conservation, and tourism to raise awareness of light pollution and celebrate our unique night environment.
Our evening forest ride will take you on guided trails through Kielder Forest under the night sky. The ride is designed for a safe, enjoyable experience, showcasing the forest after dark.
THE BORING STUFF...
Ride leaders are volunteers and give up their time for free - if you sign-up then change your mind, please ensure you cancel your place so we know not to expect you.
If the ride is fully booked and you join the waiting list, British Cycling will send an automated email if a space becomes available - then it's first come, first served. Ride leaders do NOT get to see the waiting list (annoyingly!)...
Safety information - please read:
* Repeat any calls that you hear or signals that you see (such as arm signals or calls such as ‘stopping’) so that riders behind you know what to expect
* In large groups, if you realise there’s a big gap between you and the person behind you, try and notify the leader.
* Although we don’t leave anyone behind, have a plan to get home if you’re unable to continue with the ride for any reason.
* If you find that we’re close to your home as we get towards the end of the ride, let the leaders know that you’ll be leaving the group.
THE OTHER BORING BUT IMPORTANT BITS....
Please make sure your bike is in working condition PRIOR to arriving for the ride and bring a spare inner tube to fit your tyres (check the valve type too!) and/or a puncture repair kit. The leaders can help you fix a puncture, but only if you have the right size inner tube for your bike or a puncture repair kit!
If the weather is poor, we will contact you if we are cancelling the ride and will do so by putting a message in the ‘conversation’ tab in the ride. You should receive a notification by email if there is a message. If you have not heard from us, we are still riding.
We look forward to seeing you.
