St Georges terrace, Jesmond Library, jesmond, close to west jesmond metro station or st terasa's church, heaton road, heaton. A small quantity of free parking is around these venues for those travelling to the start by car.

Starting from jesmond library, st georges terrace, jesmond or st terasa's church, heaton road, heaton this family orientated cycle ride arranged by the newcastle cycling campaign, travels from each start point taking in some of the new cycleways created into the city centre to reach the new John Dobson Street cycleway ending up at The Journey cycle cafe beside the Laing Art Gallery over the road from the City Library. Upon reaching the Journey there is free cake for all participants (i am told) and once everything is over here at least this creator will be heading back to jesmond and would happily guide anybody requiring directions that way.

For those that do not know the HSBC newcastle city ride occurs the next day (2nd July) to which a suitably large part of the city centre is set out for a traffic free cycle route starting and finishing in the exhibition park designed for all cyclists to enjoy a relaxed and enjoyable route of the city with no cars to be troubled with and many companies offering advice, information and the odd cycling related 'freeby'.
